Power Key Stopped working

Alright guys so here's the pie I have been trying to fix my power key on the right hand side of the device opposite the volume key for those of you who don't have a Note 3. Over the past couple months I've noticed that the power key has been getting flatter and flatter against the bezel of the Note 3 so I decided that I would swap it. I realize later that I couldn't get the part in myself so I took it to a company and got them to put it in but what we found out is that the power button is now not turning on the phone we replace the ribbon and still nothing is this software issue or is it a hardware issue. I will also have you know that the phone is now back on I use a trick to get it back on with the download sequence and then just cancelled it and reset my reset the download so that it would just reboot normally so I know that the software itself is probably ok but I'm wondering if it's specifically related to the power key anything you guys have would be awesome because I'd like the phone and it works great and I've had it since it came out but I don't want to just throw it away just because the power button is having an issue that I probably could fix if I knew what the real issue was thanks for any input you all have
