Newbie Questions

I have several questions that are frustrating me right now. Just over a week with this watch.

1) I am using the stock 3 dial watch face and want to have the weather dial use The Weather Channel or some other source for the weather besides Google Now. Does anyone know how to do this?

2) Today, the Fly Delta app showed me a boarding pass from last week 4 times. I finally had to block the application from working. What is the mechanism that makes this happen? I want to be able to use the boarding pass when needed, but what possesses it to send the boarding pass on it's own "good will". Especially when the flight was 7 days ago? If I am standing at the gate, what action do I take if the boarding pass isn't there?

3) Google Now keeps sending me notifications to leave for meetings even for appointments that I do not have notifications set up for. I have seen this many times over on older threads. I just want one notification on my watch and it should match what I have setup on my phone. Is there any solutions to this?

It seems that Google now is just running away with my watch. Not a positive experience so far.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

random crash of google products after app update in s4 mini.

Greetings
i had recently updated the google apps like maps, google play services, google play games along with other random apps like imo, peel smart remote, messenger etc . i was on a whatsapp call when i was switching from WiFi network to mobile data . No sooner i did that, the google services stopped working and the phone restarted. once it was in, the maps stopped working. i kept getting the message "unfortunately google services stopped working " a couple of times.
Now even the google play app is missing from the app drawer.
i have encountered the same issue before and i had to do a hard reset along with clearing the cache in recovery mode to fix it.(i lost my root privileges in that process. )

Whats the point posting ROMS when they DONT work fully and still have bloatware etc.?

Am i missing something, but when I came to XDA in the past it had ROMs that were better than stock ROMs. By that I mean they were faster, de-bloated and included better features. Now they all seem to just be higher android versions ported from newer phones but with most of the same bloatware and worse still, broken features like camera modes, gps or echo etc.
I just seems like there is no real gain from moving away from stock ota updates? What am i missing? I wish Cyanogen officially supported the g850F will all features working 100% !!!

Came across a new problem I can't find anywhere else.

I've recently come across a new issue on my T-mobile Galaxy Note 4 that I haven't seen before. I've been searching online as well and can't seem to find anyone else posting about this problem either. I'm not the best but I have some experience. I've recently rooted and flashed tekxodus hybrid n4 5 1 1 rom on my note 4 through TWRP recovery. It took a few tries but everything worked. After using it for 3 days, I decided to turn it off and hard reboot it which I've done plenty of times before. But this time, upon rebooting it starts up and shows the tmobile logo screen and turns black. Vibrates twice as if you plugged it into the charger but remains black, and stays that way. If i plug it into the charger it shows the green battery screen and charges normally. I can enter twrp recovery and download mode as well. But it just can't get past the logo screen. I've also tried using a different note 4 battery from other videos, clearing the cache, delvik-cache, but nothing seems to work. As earlier mentioned, I can't seem to find any other post with this exact problem so I've come to reddit for help. Thank you in advance for any feedback.

system/etc/permissions/ platform.xml

I have a known problem. My device won't boot, apps all crash because of a file permissions error.

I replaced system/etc/permissions/ platform.xml

I tried to re-enable the original the simple way, using a root explorer, but permissions to write are.. well corrupted. This is causing all system services to fail at boot and the tablet to crash. Basically it looks like I'm stuck with trying to repair it from recovery, or download mode (Odin) and I do not have a custom recovery installed, stock only.

UPDATE:
I now have Phil-Z recovery and Aroma File Manager. I replaced the platform.xml with the original file. Still, System is crashing on boot with several crashed app dialogs.

Seems I fixed what should have been the problem, but the problem persists.. help?

What have I done wrong - extrem performance slowdown

Hi guys, I have a situation with my moto g, I have the 8gb version since one week, I've installed a 128gb sdcard on the phone formated as internal storage... During a few days I've no problem with performance at all.... Then yesterday I decided to encrypt my phone and today I loaded 60gb an data, music, photos and videos.
Since then my phone is struggling from time to time to do simple tasks like opening an app or dragging the status bar down... Is nothing like that happens always or with the same apps.... Is random, sometimes I just wanna to unlock the phone and it takes like minutes for the keyboard to come up.

Anyone with an idea of what this might be? Was it the encryption? Should I give the phone time to index all the data?

I know it's not a problem from the SD card, because it's the fastest sandisk that I could get.

[GUID] Enable Remote SIM Access Protocol (rSAP) on the OnePlus One, using QPST

This guid shows two things:
1. How to enable QPST and USB diag mode.
2. How to enable rSAP.

Quote:

Please notice, I'm not responsible for any damage in hard- and software of your devices, if you are following this guid. You do all on your own risk.
  1. For this guid your device have to be rooted.
  2. In the newer versions of OnePlus' CyanogenMod diag mode is disabled in kernal. Therefore you have to flash an earlier ROM. In this step download Calkulin's Stock Rooted XNPH44S ROM and store zip to your device.
  3. Go to recovery and make a full backup. This is really necessary to preserve the state of your phone.
  4. Wipe Dalvik Cache, System, Data and Cache. ATTENSION: This will delete all your settings, apps and app data!
  5. Install XNPH44S ROM
  6. After rebooting system go to Settings -> About Device -> tab ten times on Build-Number to unlock developer settings. Than go to Developer settings and make sure USB debugging is enabled.
  7. Download the package, containing driver and QPST
  8. Connect your device to USB, go to Settings -> Storage -> USB computer connection and deselect both MTP and PTP.
  9. For Win8 and Win10: restart with deactivated driver signature check.
  10. Open ADB (Android SDK) and type following commands:
    Code:

    adb shell
    Code:

    su
    Code:

    setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb
  11. Go to Windows Device Manager and open Other Devices node. There are two entries of our device "A0001". Klick right on the first one and choose Update driver software -> Browse my computer... -> Let me pick from a list... -> Show all devices -> Have disk -> Browse...
  12. Browse to folder Driver in downloaded package, than open Win x64 or Win x86 corresponding to your system, select *.inf file and apply.
  13. After seccessful installation there is a Modems node in Device Manager, containing node HTC USB Modem. Right click and go to Properties. In top of the Modem tab page is the information about used COM-port. Remember that COM<number>.
  14. Go to QPST folder in downloaded package and execute setup.exe to install QPST.
  15. Open QPST Configuration from windows Start menu, go to Ports tab page and click on Add New Port.... Type (the remembered) COM<number> to the "Port:" text box and OPO to the "Port Label:" text box. Than click on OK.
Active Phones tab page should now look like this:

    Now you can use QPST.
  16. Open EFS Explorer from windows Start menu. It may take a moment to read data from your device.
  17. On left side you can see a folder tree like in file explorer. Navigate to /nv/item_files/modem/qmi/uim
  18. Click right on right side and than Copy Item File from PC. Browse to EFS Entry folder of downloaded package and choose file sap_security_restrictions.
  19. Close all windows and reboot your device. If you want, you can repeat the steps 10, 16 and 17 to verify success.
  20. Boot to recovery and restore your backup.
  21. Now go to Google Play and download app Bluetooth SIM Access Install and app Bluetooth SIM Access (Trial)
  22. Open Install app and click on Install system files. The phone have to reboot after installation. If you want to verify successful installation, open app again, the desintall button have to be enabled now.
  23. Enable your Bluetooth
  24. Open Bluetooth SIM Access (Trial) app go to Settings -> Check SIM Access. If there no errors and several entries with green check marks, than rSAP is working now.

Looking for Android hospitality / alarm clock solution

Hello,

I am curious if anyone knows if there is any type of hospitality ROM, software, etc for a tablet? My request is pretty straight forward - I'm looking to purchase a cheap tablet that I can use as a bedside clock that is permanently plugged in and never moved. Obviously it would be used as a clock (there are a bunch of digital alarm clock apps), an alarm (you could use the alarm clock portion of iHeart Radio to wake up via morning radio), etc.

I'm just wondering if anyone already has a ROM, etc, or if it is just easier to buy a cheap tablet, install iHeart, a clock widget, and then leave it permanently plugged in on the bedside?

Thanks in advance!

Official ROM (5.0.2) update, release notes / fixes?

Today my D405n updated from D405n20a to D405n20c (notice the change from ~a to ~c). The Android version remained 5.0.2, so I guess it's a rather minor update. Software version is now V20c-EUR-XX, not sure what is was before.

The first attempt (via FOTA update) failed, because it claimed (incorrectly) that my device was rooted. The LGMobileSupportTool had no such problems, all it needed was for me to free up a sizeable chunk of RAM (almost 1 GB...). Other than that, it updated flawlessly, without any issues or warnings. So far I have not noticed any differences in appearance or functionality.

What surprised me, however, was the fact that this update is mentioned absolutely nowhere: not on the LG support page, not even on this forum. I don't know when this update was released. Anybody any idea what this update actually accomplishes?

[GUIDE] Rooted, What Now? - The Essentials

Hey guys, Kyuubi10 back for another guide :)

Today I want to tackle the open ocean of options one has once they are finally rooted.
If you still don't know what rooting is, this guide probably isn't for you...But if you feel intrigued feel free to check this link out:
http://ift.tt/1LrrTvM

Many of you are unsure whether to root or not, since you don't yet understand the endless possibilities available to rooted devices. Most guides which I have found online only cover the options on the surface, I will try to go into deeper detail.
Meanwhile some of you have already rooted your phones on the promise of great things but find yourself stuck for ideas, and you start feeling that rooting is a bit useless. This is due to lack of information available for non-rooted folk, prior to actually rooting.

Note:
Just unlocking your bootloader, or flashing a custom recovery isn't rooting. But usually a custom recovery is required before rooting.
Hopefully you already know these, but if not here is a link to some terminology you may need to fully understand this guide:
http://ift.tt/1LrrUzV

So... You have successfully unlocked your bootloader, flashed a custom recovery and have rooted your device. What now? Where to start?

Finding Sources:
The first stop once you have rooted is to find sources of information about what is available to you and your device.

This is where the first complication arises, since each device is different, each device has a different rooting method, different mods, themes, ROMs and Kernels available to it. So there is NOT a universal way to root, nor software universally available to any rooted device. You have to find guides, and indexes of things made specifically for your own device.

If you have made it to this guide, you are on the right path. This website currently is the biggest hub for all things root, for any device. If you use the search option on the top right corner, you will have a really high chance of finding a thread dedicated to your own device. With all the information and software you may need, or want, specifically catered to your device.
This, along with all the available ROOT enabled apps within Google Play Store, will be the main source of ROOT software for you.

Why are you rooting?

Now you have a lot of options available to you. Where do you begin? This depends on what is your own personal reason for rooting.
The main four are: To improve battery, performance and to add themes and features which would be otherwise unavailable. (e.g. Double tap to wake.)

Improving battery AND improving performance may seem to be a contradiction, as improving performance may make battery suffer, while improving battery life may make performance suffer.
While focusing completely on one will definitely make the other suffer, if you focus on efficiency instead it's very much possible to improve both battery life AND performance TOGETHER!
There a multiple ways to improve efficiency of a device, and I will enter into more detail soon.

The other options are adding themes and features.
There may be themes which are only available to rooted devices, themes which would change values which you usually would not have access to while being unrooted. Such themes can be added as mods, or skins. Flashed from custom recovery or added by an app which writes directly to /system folder. Things which require root.

Mods on the other hand modify the visual design of existing things on the phone like widgets, such as clock widget. Theme mods are not usually reliant on ROOT, but they often need to be flashed through custom recovery, something which you will already have if you are rooted.

Features are a bit more complex than themes, but follows the same idea. They can be added through root apps, or flashed through custom recovery. Most features will require ROOT permissions, since most useful features perform actions which are not usually allowed without root. These include but are not limited to changing an apps way of functioning, or making a system change to give a ROM a feature it did not previously have.

All of these will be available to you through both XDA and/or Play Store. The limit is your imagination, all you need to do is think of something you want and use the available search boxes to find that which you want for you own device.

The most common way of adding all of it together are mod packs, frameworks, custom ROMs, custom Kernels etc...
But since there are such a wide variety of choices available, the ones you choose will be highly dependent on the original reason you have for rooting your device.

If you want to focus on performance and battery, you will choose a ROM with a lot of optimizations, and a custom Kernel instead of one with a lot of themes and features. While you will choose a ROM with few optimizations but loads of themes and features if you are looking more to the visual design experience, while ignoring the kernel, which doesn't affect visuals.

Once you know what your aim for rooting is feel free to begin flashing, installing and experimenting with a variety of software.
You may hear a lot about the risks of rooting, bricking your device, soft-brick or hard-brick, glitches from beta software etc....
But my advice is, don't worry about the risk....make a NANDROID BACKUP, and flash away.
If anything goes wrong, just go back in recovery and restore your last stable nandroid. This way you can flash without worrying about all the risks. And if something does go wrong, and you struggle to get into recovery, just leave an SOS post right here on XDA, on the thread for your device and the community will be more than happy to help you get back on your feet. This will always be a learning experience...don't let fright stop you from enjoying the rooted life!

The essentials:
Here are my recommendations for the most common and essential things which you should have/flash/install once you are rooted.

1) Begin by making a nandroid backup.

2) Find a custom ROM with the features you like. I personally recommend to focus on theming options when choosing a ROM, since you can use other methods to improve battery and performance.

3) Find a custom Kernel with great features to improve battery and performance. You should learn to adjust and fine-tune kernel settings to your liking, to find the ideal balance between battery and performance for your liking and your device.
3.a) This is my Comprehensive Guide to Kernels. It will have most of what you need in order to learn how to adjust kernel settings.
4) Install BusyBox - What is BusyBox?

5) Flash Xposed Framework and Install the apk - This is only a framework, which facilitates and makes available multiple mods to both add features, themes and mods to improve performance and battery.

6) Flash Viper4Audio - The best audio mod available for Rooted devices. Recently for lollipop and marshmallow it seems that you need a Kernel with SELinux set to permissive.

7) Find and download an Adblock apk - Note: While it is awful to surf the net while being annoyed by intrusive ads, it is also not nice to stop content developers from from receiving the money they deserve through these ads, for content which the provide freely. Therefore please check the option to allow acceptable ads. So that non-intrusive ads are allowed to show up, so developers can continue providing their content freely.

From the Play Store:

8) Greenify - This will help both battery and performance by hibernating apps which keep awake even after manually force closing them. Thus allowing you to control how many apps are truly running at the same time and utilizing RAM. This app also has an Xposed module which adds boosted functionality.

9) Any ROOT file explorer - This will allow you to access ROOT directories of your device. This will be useful for multiple reasons, trust me :)

10) Tasker - If you are a fan of automation, this is your holy grail. With this you will be able to automate anything on your device.

11) Seeder - I am unable to explain what this app does. It's own description within the Play Store is perfect and very clear! Go check it out. It will improve performance when actively using the device.

12) SD Maid - This is a swiss army knife for Rooted devices. Those of you familiar with CCleaner, will know some of the things this app does. It cleans system and app caches, it cleans leftover files after uninstalling apps. It is also able to toggle autostart, delete system apps, freeze/disable apps and much much more!

Hope this has helped you get started on your Rooted adventure, and given you more aim of where you can go from here.
If you still haven't rooted your device, I hope this guide could help you seal your decision, and ease your fears.
:silly:

If this was a helpful guide, I would be grateful if you could press the thanks button.:good::good: And feel free to comment with any questions or mentioning anything I may have forgotten, or your own opinions for the essentials things to do once you are rooted.

No wipe data/factory reset option in AT&T bootloader.

My sister forgot his unlock pattern on her Asus Zenfone (Z00A) from AT&T so I went straight into the recovery mode and for my surprise none of the options to wipe cache or data was available, the only ones available are:
  • reboot system now.
  • apply update from ADB
  • apply update from micro SD

And YES i know how to go into recovery options correctly, i've done this too many times but this is my first time in this case, I suppose it's due to the AT&T bootloader.

Taking it to AT&T is not an option since I live in Mexico, if anyone knows how to hard reset the phone or at least the pattern please help me!

USB debugger options are not activated and I was thinking of flashing a ROM downloaded from the asus website but I don't know if it will brick the phone since the SKU is not the same (My phone is from US and the firmwares are WorldWide)

Please help!

Enable encryption CyanogenMod 12.1

Hello, on my galaxy s4 gt-i9505 it is installed Optimized CyanogenMod 12.1 antaresone. As you may know the device's encryption is bugged and wanted to know if there is a way to activate it anyway.

At this time the partition is f2fs. I would also like to know if, once encrypted device, it was possible to update the rom through recovery.

Service Test firmware wont allow me to install any firmware! Please help me!

Hi there i need some help. Asus South Africa Service Center changed motherboard of my ZE551ml smartphone. The motherboard already has special service firmware, which is not for everyday using. So now they said they are failing to flash the firmware, to normal version. Because they cant help me so i got my phone back.
Now the problem is that i cant load into recovery mode, to apply ADB update. In bootloader mode, when i choose to reboot into recovery mode, phone is rebooting directly into the system. I tried to flash recovery (CN, WW ), flashing process is successful, but still cant load into recovery. is there any way to get rid of from service firmware. Please help me! Thanks in advance.

Can I get a "No BS" opinion on the Pixel C

Hi. Im in the Army and found out Im going to Afghanistan soon. I am looking for an android tablet/hybrid (not looking for a Surface) to hold me over until I we get things set up and I can have my wife ship my gaming laptop over (which is why i dont want a Surface, as I already have a windows device). what I need it to do: read comics, read ebooks, watch videos (by that I mean mostly 1080p 10bit x265 HEVC videos), play games, and skype. ok, the comics, ebooks, and skype dont need much hardware for that, but the videos and games need a good processor. So far I've read the wifi sucks...and other say that the wifi doesnt suck, that it has issues playing games and others say there isnt an issue playing games, etc. Can someone give me their opinion on if this would meet all my needs. Thanks for your help.

If you had to choose between two phones (5x and Samsung G. S6) , which would it be?

I'm honestly not sure which phone to choose.
May you roll up some personal views on the matter?
Because right now I am using both phones every second day, and I really can't make up my mind regarding this matter.. So listening to someone else would help.

Im facing that the software on the nexus 5x and the ability to customize it so much more is a huge adventage, however the S6 got some great specs.
So yeh.
Opinions please, if that's allowed to ask for here :) I would gladly appreciate a nice discussion with personal opinions

Bluetooth receiver for AUX IN on car that works with Android 5.1?

So my Knivio bluetooth receiver has been rendered useless by the most recent update because Google tied the bluetooth device volume to system volume and android doesn't know how to handle the fact that this device has no volume on it, its just a receiver. I get max (blown out) volume every time it connects and if i lower it it only goes to minimum, no spectrum and the audio is crap:

What is the multi tasking like on the Honor 7

Ok, so over the years I've had lots of Android phones but the one thing that has got on my nerves has been the poor multi-tasking! What I've always been looking for has a machine where the apps stay in memory for a long time. The worst was my S3, basically if you switched an app and returned it would reload. Even the LG G4 with lots of memory will reload an app after the 8th one has been in memory. At the moment the best is the OnePlus 2, but the more apps you load the more sluggish becomes. But the question is the Honor 7 better??

[App] FingerPrint Launcher

Use your Fingerprint to launch apps quickly. You can set each of your fingers to open different apps

Want to open an App real quick? Tired of using gestures? Want a faster way to open hidden App? The FingerPrint Launcher is the right one for you.
The FingerPrint Launcher allows you to open an app real quick with a touch of a button, anywhere and anytime. You just have to just select which finger launches which app*, then you hold down the menu button and let the app scan your finger and your done. The app is immediately launched.
You can replace your traditional app lock software which consumes a lot of battery with the help of this App. Most Launcher comes with a hide an app option. So just hide the app and set FingerPrint Launcher as the easiest way to open your hidden app** ;) .Instead of using gestures to open an app which any one can do, the fingerprint remains your alone.

The app uses long press menu button to start scanning the fingerprint.

Should work with All Samsung Mobile with fingerprint sensor support having android OS 4.4.2+

Here is an example how it works

*This version can only use two fingerprint
**Depending on the environment setup of your device, there may be other alternatives to open your hidden app.

Just got a z3c! Some noob questions, like ROOT...

I just bought a used z3c after my moto x 2013 bit the dust. Full specs in the attached images.

Some questions:

1. How do I root this thing? I've seen different guides, with different info. Looking for something definitive. And I'm on a Mac, no Windows. I would really like to install xposed/gravitybox. (FWIW, the "unlock bootloader" page at Sony says that my model cannot be bootloader unlocked.)
E.g., this site -- http://ift.tt/1yfJw99 -- says to just flash SuperSU, but is it that easy?

2. It has some app called "My EE" ... looks like a carrier specific thing. I'd like to get this to "stock" without carrier bloatware.

3. The rear lens glass is totally scratched up, photos all blurry/glowy. Is this easy to fix/replace? Tried rubbing some toothpaste but didn't seem to make a difference...

4. What's the word on Marshmallow? Is that coming soon? Can I install the "concept" M from Sony?

I have lots of experience rooting/flashing/hacking on other phones, but this is my first Sony since my trusty k800i ...

Thanks!

[Drivers/Hardware repair] Home Button (including Fingerprint Sensor) completely dead

Hey guys,

I know there are threads like this all over this forum, but as I tried everything that was described in different threads and nothing worked, i just made up a new one... sorry for that.

Some days ago my home button just stopped working for no reason. I was at the latest CyanPop nightly and apart from scanning FP, everything worked fine. The FP-Error is known to CM13 because of the drivers etc so i was aware of that.. I was getting home from work when suddenly my home-button stopped working for no reason. I thought it might be due to the custom rom etc, so i went back to OxygenOS 2.2.0 but it still didn't work out.

What I tried for now:
  • full wipe
  • flashing Oxygen OS 2.0.2 and 2.0.3
  • installing stock modem, firmware, kernel rom and recovery
  • as OP support told me: unhide Google Search Bar
  • hard reboot (holding powerbutton until it reboots)

I still don't know if it's a hardware related error, but I really hope it's not. I bought my OP2 in the official OnePlus Store in Beijing when I was on holiday in China. I already got in contact with the OnePlus support, but they said there is no warranty for the OnePlus Two China Edition (can anyone confirm that..?), so i don't think they're not going to repair it, not even if i pay for it.

So, does anyone know what else I could try (software AND hardware related!)? Is there a way to buy a new FP-Sensor/Home-Button and replace it manually? Every smartphone-repair-store in my area told me that they don't have spare parts for OnePlus devices...

I really hope someone can help me with this!

Thanks in advance,
Neo

First of all I'd just like to apologise as I know this question has been asked many times but looking through the forums all the guides eventually veer off to something specific about a device that mine doesn't seem to match. Fire TV with Bravia Sync

Used to use my Sony Kdl-nx503 remote to turn on the fire TV (v1) through Bravia sync but seems like the update to the latest os5 might have kaputted this :( is anyone else using a Sony TV and if so does it still turn the fire TV on from sleep if you select the hdmi channel?

No biggie but it used to save me having to look for the original remote which the fairies must mysteriously move when I'm not looking :)

Stuck at samsung logo! (volume down button not working.)

Hi. I'm new here, and I really need help!
It started today when I'm tired of a disaster lagging using android 5.1.1 rom on my Galaxy tab 10.1 (GT-P7500).
So, I decided to flash a stock rom to go back to honeycomb 3.2
And basically, a volume down button on my tablet is broken. so I won't be able to reboot in recovery mode.
I tried reboot in download mode by pressing power + volume up button but it won't work either.
Then I managed to reboot in download mode and use Odin to flash a rom by using adb cmd but I didn't boot to recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset first(I don't know if this has something to do with this problem.)
And that brought me to a dead end problem.. Stuck at the logo while booting up. :crying:
I don't really know what else to do or is there some hope with this situation. I plugged a usb to my pc while in logo screen and it showed up as SAMSUNG_Android so when I check by typing adb devices in command it's there but can't get it to work since adb required debugging mode.

I think I will probably end up order a new button for replacement but I feel like I should ask a professionals first.

2. Turn off device and boot into fastboot mode (Volume Down + Power)

2.5. If your device won't boot into fastboot using that key combo. Enable USB Debugging on your Slate and run the following command from your computer with the Slate connected and on:

Code:

adb reboot-bootloader
3. Connect your device to your computer by plugging one end of the USB cord into the lone USB port on the left-hand side of the device and the other end on any USB port on your computer.

4. Run the command "fastboot oem unlock" (no quotes)

5. Select yes on your Slate 21 Pro, after this step you will lose all your data. Vol Up to move Up, Vol Down to move Down, Brightness Up to select.

6. After fastboot has been unlocked, you'll need to flash TWRP to your recovery. Do do this run the following command:

Code:

fastboot flash recovery /path/to/downloaded/TWRP.img
Replace /path/to/downloaded/TWRP.img with where you downloaded TWRP provided by me (Quaesar). You can drag and drop the IMG into Terminal/CMD to do this easily.

7. Use the buttons on the side of the device to select "Recovery"

8. Profit! You now have the latest TWRP on your device!

Fire TV 1st gen with Software Version 51.1.4.0 - what to do? (Update or not?)

Hey all,

I own a FireTV 1st Gen with Software Version 51.1.4.0 which is not rootable but can be bootloader unlocked (if it was rooted).

I also own a FireTV Stick which is upgraded to 5.0.5 and rooted with kingroot.

I need some advice what to do with the 1st gen FireTV - I could update it to 5.0.5 and root with kingroot, but then it would also update the bootloader to be not unlockable, right?!

I also have that eMMC Adapter but couldnt bring myself to attempt to do the soldering root method - but actually that would be best or? Then I could unlock the bootloader, and install custom recovery..

Or might there become a way available to have custom recovery on the 5.0.5 version without prior bootloader unlock?

Halp please!

How to unroot to stock firmware (SM-900F)

I posted yesterday about rooting and everything worked fine courtesy to you wonderful people but my touchscreen is messed up and I need to get in contact with the seller on ebay to get it replaced.

I need to get it back to stock firmware with all the bloat as I pretty much deleted it all thinking my phone would work fine. I don't want any hiccups with the seller saying it was my fault blah blah..

I'm downloading the stock firmware from SamMobile for my device currently, but need a (n00b-friendly) guide so it goes smoothly with no troubles.

Thanks :D

Camera lag with flash on SM-G360T

Hi, I just got the SM-G360T thru T-Mobile. Android Lollipop 5.1.1. A big issue I found is when using the camera app with flash, it takes a good 5 or 6 seconds to take a picture. The flash comes on immediately, but the picture is not taken until those 5-6 seconds are up. That's a long time to ask someone to look at a bright light and uses battery. Takes pic almost immediately without flash. I tried different modes, same thing. My other phones take a flash pic within maybe a second, so just a slight delay, and the flash only goes on for a split second when the picture is actually being taken. Defect, or par for this model or a setting I'm missing? Thanks much, have 3 days to swap if defective.

TRWP Backup Extraction

I have changed my ROM to Fulmics and all okay. I did a TWRP backup of current stock ROM beforehand. I also did a system and internal storage wipe. Unfortunately some of my photos were stored on my internal drive (all the rest are on external SD card). Is there a way to retrieve just the photos? I have looked through the backup files on my PC with WinRar but cannot locate any photos.

Google periodic backup seems to only have backed up the external SD card photos!

G900T on AT&T - works, but odd delays and data problems

I recently purchased a G900T for use on AT&T. It works and I do eventually get LTE. However, the towers are VERY slow to connect. It usually takes a minute or more for GSM service, and then it will often stay on EDGE for 5-10 minutes before it finally switches over to H, H+, or LTE.

It also seems to switch the data off completely when I make or receive a call, and then once I end the call I have to wait another 5-10 minutes for LTE to come back. Obviously very annoying.

I started out on stock OL1, and now I have CM13 with OL1 modem. Same connection problems on both. (I still have my stock AT&T S4 for comparison, and it connects immediately to the tower, and LTE works as expected. So it's not a tower issue)

I would greatly appreciate any help. Here is what I've tried so far:
  • I have tried going into the *#*#4636#*#* menu, and it is set to "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)". I looked at the "Select radio band" menu, but the only options available when the radio is on are "Automatic" and "EURO Band (GSM-900 / DCS-1800 / WCDMA-IMT-2000)"

It's on Automatic now. When the radio is off, I see a ton of other options, but I can't select them. And they go away as soon as the radio is back on.

  • I thought the problem might be the Automatic band setting. I attempted to add additional settings to the "Select radio band" menu, based on this post (http://ift.tt/1w5NmQz)

I couldn't get past the step of putting USB into "RNDIS + DM + Modem" mode. I couldn't get to that screen through the dialer, and when I tried to change the setting through the shell, this is what I found:

    Code:

    getprop | grep usb
    [persist.sys.usb.config]: [mtp,adb]
    [sys.usb.config]: [mtp,adb]
    [sys.usb.configfs]: [0]
    [sys.usb.state]: [mtp,adb]

I tried changing the various [mtp, adb] settings using setprop. I've tried changing them to [acm, diag, mtp, adb] and [rndis, acm, diag, mtp, adb], but neither seemed to work. At least I didn't get the "diagnostic" option under add port in QPST. And I'm not even sure I'm on the right track with this.

Introduction :
I'm proud to present you the first dual boot project for the Qualcomm-based Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo and Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and Galaxy S5 mini ! This will allow any ROMs and as many as you want to be installed at the same time. It works by patching the secondary's ROM installation scripts and boot image to load the ROM files from an alternate location (/system/dual, /cache/dual, and /data/dual). Because of the way this is implemented, no changes to the primary ROM are necessary :D
About :
Hello guys, as some of you guys know and some of you dont I was working on dual boot and dual boot v1 beta, which was released in our great Telegram group, but not in XDA, because of some reasons and rude MAXSIMUS96 that doesn't have any respect to a great development. But anyway I dont care :P

Lets Start
Well here's v2.2 + dbtools removed :P
patched files are flashable with recovery now
added full s3 neo support
added full grand 2 support
added full s5 mini support
Now you can have unlimited ROMs!
Tested with 4 CMROMs + 2 stock ROMs
Here's the topic of the base tool used: Dual Boot Patcher :)
Here :P
Make sure you leave a like on the great post of base tool I used here ;)

What is Dual Boot or Multiboot?
DualBooting or multi Booting means having 2 or more ROMs at same time on the phone and choose between what you want to boot on next reboot

Why i need this? Is it even useful???
Yes it is! You can fix offline charging on some ROMs like CM12.1, you can have stock battery life, motion beauty, CM12.1's and CM11's performence at the same time without flashing any of them. Just one click from changing to the ROM you like ;)

Whoa that sounds awesomeeee! is it difficult to install??
In v1 yes, but now on v1.5 i added dbtools (DualBootTools) that make most of things automated and even easier for noobs :P
now v2 things got even easier :D full s3 neo support

Any ScreenShots !?
see post #3 attachments ;)

I want to see how it is ! is it possible , any videos ?? !?
see post #3 post ;)

First Things first ! Go and make Backup of your files
Requirements :
an S5 mini :p
root access of course
busybox if you are on stock ROM
recovery (twrp 3.0.0 is the best)
brain (the most important)
time and being relaxed ;)
downloaded files

installation tree:

download and preparing files
setting kernel
patching the ROM
flashing
switching ROM
updating ramdisk
extras...
done enjoying ;)

Explaining the tools

First: dbtools (removed due v2)
DualBootPatcher:
the great app mentiond above that made dualbooting possible

installation :

Now we know all about the tools,so it's time to use our brain :p
Now download and install DualbootPatcher app
if you are on motion rom install Motion fix zip at downloads section . it will change device codename back to s3ve3g
Open the app
Slide the menu and go to ROMs
It will request for root access
Allow the root access
and a message will ask about to set the kernel
Select "set now" and after it said kernel set reboot your device
Now after device is turned on
Go to the app and navigate "Patch Zip File"
and tap that + button select ROM you want to install
A window will come up and if you see in "device" "s3ve3g - Samsung galaxy s3 Neo or ms013g - Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 or kmini3g - Samsung Galaxy s5 Mini" you done everything right.
then:
If you are CMuser and want to install another CM
Select the partition configuration as "Secondary"
If you are trying to install another ROM that has a huge system
Select partiton configuration as "data slot" and select an ID for the ROM better to be a number
(It will be installed on data partition )
and select continue and set place of patched file .
you can add more files to patch there .
and after you are ready to patch the files tap that tick button in action bar
to start patching

After you patched the zip ROM go ahead and navigate to ROMs from the menu
and select button down there and select patched zip and then select keep location and add more or select tick to start install
if any thing wrong happend PM me on telegram and send me multiboot.log in internal storage.
after ROM is installed
it will auto select the ROM, if it did not report me
now use three dot on side of primary and select update ram disk
now use three dot on side of new ROM and select update ram disk
after it said done reboot the device and see the magic !!!!
your new ROM is booting !!!!
Cool, let's stop enjoying and continue :P
now after you ROM booted take your time to setup the device and go and install dualboot patcher app again
Go to ROMs and allow root access and
now use three dot menu in side of primary ROM and select update ramdisk
now use three dot in side of new ROM and select update ramdisk
and now ENJOY your dual booted phone for now on you just need to select the ROM and boot into it
it doesnt need updating ramdisk any more.

How to flash a kernel gapps, camera fix, etc.?
Just patch the file to same partition configuration and flash with app
or patch it with recovery tools and flash

How to boot into other rom if you have boot loop with the current rom ?
boot into recovery twrp 3 and select images , navigate to /sdcard/multiboot/ and you see your ROMS listed in folder , like primary , dual , etc .... open the folder of ROM you desire to boot and flash boot.img to boot partition and reboot the phone

How to Wipe the roms ?
go to rom options in dualboot app select wipe rom and tick all of them and done .

Thanks & credits
It's all done now, thanks for reading carefully
Please at least leave a THANKS to the topic, it make me feel better and work harder on v2 for our device.
I can't receive any donation due to my country. It will be really nice if you send me donations with google gift cards

credits : DualBootPatcher Developer : @chenxiaolong
@LGaljo for his great help about fixing grammar mistakes and thanks to @Swp1996 for testing on grand 2 and thanks to @sasukesama for testing and helping with s5 mini and thanks to @ziad311 for testing v2 & thanks too @German Developer for video tutorial

hitting thanks button isn't that hard guys
Version Information
note SEANDROID ENFORCING is not a bug it's needed so please don't try to edit the work without permission or try to fix SEANDROID ENFORCING!!!!
What is working and what is not working on the ROMs?
Everything works great :p
Only bug is about CM11 :
Files created by CM11 ROM can't be opended with the other ROM :B
That's only problem .
Status : stable beta
version : 2.2
dbtools version : removed in v2
