The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was officially launched on Thursday at an event in New York. At the event, Samsung revealed pricing and availability details for the US, UK, and EU markets. The company traditionally chooses to hold a separate event for the Indian launch of its flagship phones, but this time, Samsung has chosen just to open pre-orders and reveal pricing and availability details instead of holding a dedicated event.

Full specifications for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 can be accessed here. In India, the Galaxy Note 9's base 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant costs ₹67,900 ($983). The phone will be powered by the Exynos 9810 system-on-chip in the country. This is the same price as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8's launch price, but it should be noted that the Galaxy Note 8 came with a base 64GB storage version. This means that Samsung is providing more storage for the same price this time around. The price is also slightly cheaper than the US price, which is good to see as in the past, Samsung has launched its flagship phones with significantly inflated prices in India.

The company has also launched the 8GB RAM/512GB variant of the Galaxy Note 9 in India, and it costs ₹84,900 ($1,229). This makes it the most expensive Samsung phone in the country, and it's also the most expensive Android phone to launch in India yet. Even despite having such a high price, the 512GB variant of the phone still manages to be cheaper than the base 64GB storage variant of the 2017 iPhone X in India.

The Galaxy Note 9 will be available for pr-orders from August 10 to August 20. The exact availability date hasn't been revealed by Samsung yet, but it will likely be on August 222. Pre-bookings can be done online and offline, and the entire price of the device needs to be paid. Users can also opt for no-cost EMI payments.

Launch offers include ₹6,000 cashback for transactions made using HDFC Bank cards. Consumers can buy the Samsung Gear Sport for ₹4,999 on pre-ordering the Note 9; the Gear Sport normally costs ₹22,900.

Airtel is offering the Note 9 with a down payment of ₹7,999 and 24 EMI payments of ₹2,999. Consumers willg et 100GB data per month (with rollover), bundled local and STD calls, free national roaming calls, Amazon Prime membership for a year, Airtel Secure device protection, and more. Only the base 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant is available under Airtel's EMI plan, and buyers can pre-order it on Airtel's website.

In terms of pricing, the Note 9's base variant is the same price as its predecessor. However, the launch price is still extremely high. This makes affordable flagships much more competitive in India. For reference, users can buy two Asus ZenFone 5Z units (the phone starts at ₹29,999 ($4340 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC), and still spend ₹8,000 ($115) less than the Galaxy Note 9's base variant.
