I need help backing up a Galaxy S3 with no screen

Okey, so my 4 years old s3 died a couple of months ago. It had a black screen and no indication that it might be working so I thought that it was dead for good. I removed the battery and threw it in a drawer.

A week earlier though, my small brother found the "dead" phone, inserted the battery and he started pressing the power button to boot it. To my surprise the LED indicator was working but the vibration motor wasn't. So I thought I might as well plug it to my computer and see what I could save (photos, videos etc). It was recognised by my computer but I couldn't access it because of my pattern lock. It was a simple pattern. I even tried to enter despite the screen not working but with no luck. I Have no idea if it is the digitiser or my pattern entering skills.

So my question is this: can I still access my files somehow? And if so, can I get some of my app data files? They are really important to me.

TL: DR - Galaxy S3, screen not working, pc recognises it, can I get back my personal files and app data?

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps
